My Top 5 Pinoy Cosplay Group

I’ve been wanting to blog this for along time now, but really can’t make up my mind of who’s my fifth favorite in the cosplay groups. Most of the members are friends of mine, some I invited to my events and some I got to take pics with at mall tournaments. I’m a total geek but really have no time to do cosplay due to ever increasing demand of work by my clients. So instead of me doing it, I think of them as me and giggle :D

The Top 5 Groups are all Philippine based cosplayers who are active in demonstrating and flashing their awesomeness! So let’s start!

1. Justice PH – They’re a group of DC Comics fanatics that dons this superhero costumes in a blink of an eye (just joking). A variety of heroes is all I can say! I love having pictures with these guys as well. Meet Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonderwoman and the rest of Justice League or visit their Facebook Page for news and updates.

2. The Philippines’ X-MEN Cosplay Team – No they’re not mutants but they’re as cool as that! FlipGeeks.com even want them at NYCC, for this group is uber hardcore and bonds like glue. Meet Wolverine, Archangel, Cyclops, Jean Grey and more. Go visit their Facebook Page for news and updates.

3. Silent Hill Philippines Cosplay Group – This guys are like crazy kids who loves dirt and blood over nice and colorful costumes. But who cares? they got featured at several shows and photoshoots just because of the gore and scary costumes. I’m also attached to them as their ever favorite designer :D Go like them at Facebook for upcoming events and book them as well.

4. The Avengers Philippines – Although they are not much active or whatsoever it is they do. I still love these guys as well! We’ve invited them at our event and the crowd loves them too. I guess its time to assemble them! Go Like them at Facebook too for they definitely need fans :D

5. Naruto Cosplayers Philippines – They’re the biggest among the five that I have here and also the most charitable. I wouldn’t want any anime to be out my list so they are the perfect group to complete my Top 5. I also know some of them through BUM‘s event and got to know that they have a great plans for Pinoy Culture slash Cosplay.  Like them at Facebook too!

I basically said no valid reason for my top 5 XD. But these groups makes me feel like a kid again going gaga and thinking of them like toys or large replicas of the characters itself.

I was so interested and amazed on how this normal and regular people can do such creative wonders. Cosplay for me is an expression of one’s self and is not a joke when it comes to creating a look. Some friends of mine spent thousands and countless times to create their Cosplay characters. So I ask myself when will I meet these people?

Check out the creations from Balanar to Hikaru of Magic Knight Rayearth to Kurogami.

Since COSPLAY was so in these days, even my clients are demanding for it and got ourselves a contest inspired by it called BUM My Darkside where we also held the 3rd Bloggers and Media Night. We had to get a cosplay stylist who turned out half as bad but love her collection of accessories and had a go-see of models for the shoot. Out of nowhere my client asked me to have some cosplayers at the event itself, so I posted at different cosplay groups at Facebook looking for interested people.

Luckily one guy named Sochi Domingo replied and introduced me to Douketsu Madarang. I was like a kid with shining eyes again and excited to see that the peeps featured at Rated K will also come as guests to BUM’s event. They even helped me find other cosplayers coz I needed 6 persons that time. All I can say is not only they are creative but they are cool peeps as well.

Sochi Domingo is brains and also hands of Sochi’s Haven, they provide costumes, weapons and props for cosplayers and non cosplayers alike. He’s a silent guy but pretty straight forward.

Sochi’s Haven’s designs are remarkable and committed for giving quality and high detailed costumes to all their clients. Their services are also available to other mediums like tv and movie props and even stage plays. They provide weapons that its 101% harmless and safe even to younger ones and cosplay props like wings, armlets, guns and others. The also use indigenous materials that can give realistic effects to armors and weapons. What more can you ask for?

Check out some of the amazing commissioned designs for cosplayer clients.

Bum makes the growing COSPLAY trend part of everyday fashion

Fashionistas all over the world are now wearing their true colors on their sleeves more prominently their moods. Fashion authorities in the country would tell you that the youth are taking trends out of the pages of magazines (and even comic books!) and into the streets.

Costume Play, or more popularly known as COSPLAY, for instance, is now a growing style trend in the Philippines. What used to be part of the Otaku culture (fans of Japanese comic books or manga), is becoming a common sight in everyday Pinoy fashion little by little.

There’s a lot to Cosplay than a representation of a person’s favorite anime character. It also speaks volumes about his/her fantasies, creativity and the center of it all, individuality.

That same level of individuality — which gives cosplayers the courage to show off their true identities costumes in public — runs deep in Bum’s style philosophy. As a brand that represents the youth’s conceptions and misconceptions, Bum is gradually recognizing the Cosplay trend into the Filipino fashion psyche by translating it into more prominent trend. Bum and Cosplay, after all, somehow speaks the same language.

So to mark this fashion assimilation, Bum is opening a contest for young Filipinos through their website. The local clothing brand is inviting young stylephiles to show their individual interpretation of the Cosplay trend by using pieces from Bum. While interested participants are allowed to wear their take on their favorite anime characters, the total ensemble should have shades of Emo Rock and Goth — Bum’s signature look, ensync with “MY STORY” Bum’s culminating chapter.

BUM products (apparel) should be the core component of the costume design based on the character of choice. Costumes may be enhanced by accessories such as wigs, make-up, contact lenses, and other props. If they’re feeling a little bit more creative, computer graphics may also be used in the photo layout to enhance the costume/character (with the BUM logo prominently seen in the photo).

Photos must be submitted to Bum as early as possible, so that they will have enough time to get “Likes” on Bum’s Website. The 10 entries that get the most “Likes” get a chance to take home big prizes, including a Nikon D3000 DSLR Camera, Blackberry 3G phones, Samsung ES80 cameras, and tokens from Bum.
